I realize that this is a long due post... But hey, better late than never, dba? So yeah, for those who's been persistently asking for kwentos and even for those who just gave up, here's details as to how our holidays in Texas went.

Rey and I flew in to Dallas on a Saturday (12.22). Mama Petrita, Lupe and the kids picked us up from the airport. Jaz has grown so big na and her curls are more prominent na this time! Lil Nune naman has grown taller ren and has, in fact,  turned 11 that month ren. Anyways, so from the airport, we went to do a lil grocery shopping cause Mama wanted to make Gus' fave breakfast--sopes (tortilla + beans + ground pork) & arroz con leche, a cocoa-less version of Pinoy's champorado. We met Ale na ren, who's actually on his way back to Mexico for the holidays. Later that day, we handed na our gifts to everybody since we weren't celebrating Christmas with them. Too bad Jerry wasn't there cause he had to work that day. Im glad everybody liked their gifts naman. :-))

Later that day, Mamu called and she said her flight from Seattle was delayed and she and Tatay (Kuya Allan's Dad) be spending the night in Dallas before flying back to Killeen. I think it was about 9-ish when Rey and I drove to Fort Worth to pick them up. Daming delays and it took awhile before we saw each other. I think, it was close to midnight na when we got home. Mama & Lupe were actually asleep na pagdating namen but they got up and prepared food for Mamu & Tatay. My Mom's so funny kse non-stop daldal sya that time. Lupe & Mama Petrita actually told me na tuwang-tuwa sa Nanay ko at very outgoing daw. :-)) Mamu even invited Mama to spend Christmas with us in Killeen. It would have been a high-strung situation for Rey and I, considering its the first time our Mom's met each other, but thank God talaga that everybody just got along so well.

Mga 0430H the next day, we drove Mamu & Tatay to the airport. Soooobrang antok kme on the drive back so by the time we got home, we headed back to the room and slept for another good 4 hours. :-))

Come the 24th, all three of us--Mama, Rey and I, drove to Killeen mga 11ish and got to Killeen close to 1500H na ren. After having late, quick lunch, we all started getting ready na for church. The service was at 1700H at a church on post. It just reminded me so much of how we celebrate Christmas back in Pinas. It really felt like home sa dami ng Pinoy at the church! Haha!!! Come to think of it, the last time I was back home for Christmas was actually 2 years ago na pala! Ayun, so after the mass we went home na and started getting ready na for Noche Buena. Three other familias are coming over at Ate Choy's to celebrate the visperas with us--another thing we do back in Pinas. :-)) As expected with any Filipino party, laging may kantahan (karaoke) and sayawan! Just like my Mamu, Mama is so much into singing ren. In fact, she used to be a singer in a band back in the day in Mexico. Anywho, Mama warmed up the mic and started singing Spanish songs! After awhile, we started eating and drinking na! Tas we exchanged gifts right after... Una the kiddos then the adults na! Sobrang katuwa tas si Mamu pa patawa sobra! She was saying her 'thank you speech" tas bigla ciang nabulol! Tas pasimple pa cia shempre and pretended na walang nangyari and continued on... After a short silence, nagkatinginan kme ni Ate Choy sabay "ANO DAW YUN?!?!?" Tas everybody started laughing na! HAHAHAH!!! Basta katawa sobra! Anyways, after gift giving, kantahan and sayawan na! While the kids were in the room glued to the internet and tv, all the adults were buzzed singing and dancing! Sobrang fun!

The next day naman, we all went to Austin for shopping. It was about an hour drive den from Killeen. First stop was David's Brdal. All the guys went out shopping in Best Buy ata with the kids habang kmeng mga girls were in the bridal shop trying on our gowns for Ate Choy's wedding. After that, we headed for lunch then did more shopping pa after!

The 26th, Rey and I got our marriage license from the county office. After nun, Ate Choy went to order our cake and my bouquet for Friday. We did a lil grocery shopping afterwhich we headed home na. The next day, we drove back to Dallas na... When we got home, we pretty much rested lang since it was a long drive ren and prepared lang den for the big day. I remember at one point when Rey and I were talking, bigla nalang akong naluha.... Naisip ko lang, it would have been nice if my Dad and his Bro are with us on that day.

Last Monday when Rey called me, he said he has good and bad news for me. To be honest, I was scared cause the last time he said that, that's when he broke the news that he's spending another month and half in Ranger school. Anyways, I asked for the bad news first but he insisted on telling me the other news instead. So he sent me a card daw for today. Told him na sana he kept it from me so it would be a surprise when I get it... And thats when he went ahead and told me the bad news na--na it might come in late daw.

Well apparently, the only time he was able to buy the cards was last Sunday (after church) and so he got to send them the next working day na. He didn't want Valentines Day to come and I'd feel bad daw cause I think that he didn't send me anything at all. Now, aint that smart and uber sweet?!?!? I just sooo love my husband so freaking much!!! :-))

Its been awhile since I celebrated valentine's day with somebody. This year, I get to celebrate it with my Poop!

So today,  around 1530ish, Brett came up to me and handed me a small package. I was so excited cause I knew that it was from Rey. In it was iPoop and 2 cards. Here's an excerpt from the first one:-

"I wish I was there to spend Valentines with you. We would have had so much fun!! :) With candles and romantic music, rose petals all over the bed!! Dangit Poop! :( This really sucks. I can't imagine how its going to feel when I get deployed. But one thing is for sure, I will come back and we can start our family. Nothing's going to stop me from spending the rest of my life with you Babe. So don't even worry about it. I love you Honey."

I just bursted out to tears after reading that cause Rey knew my biggest fear and he reassured me that he will be back for me.

And of course, he had to mention www.kornylove.com! Hahaha!!! Now the other card was a cute & funny one. I liked it a lot too! That's just so Rey.

Yeah, its not ur ideal Valentines day--no chocolates, no flowers, no dinner date or what have you. But given our situation, I couldn't be any happier.

    God is so good.

Despite the sudden turn of events with Rey being stuck in Ranger school for another month and a half, things are turning out quite well.

One, since he's getting out early March, he cant be deployed within 60 days after graduation.
Then, come August, the 15-month deployment is now down to 12 again.
So technically, he'll only be away for 10months.

    Yay!!!

Hopefully nothing comes up to spoil all these again.

I was told that we're having this departmental lunch today. This morning, Brett asked me if I could go with him to get paper plates for the thing. So by 1130, we're out to go to Krogers. Halfway to the supermarket, Caroline called and said that they found paper plates already and that we can head back. When I got in the office, I saw Gavin and Chris (who's from a different department) and as I walk my way further in, I saw more and more people! Then they had all these gifts at the center of the room. And Rey was there!!!

    It was my Bridal Shower!!!

Caroline and Brett planned everything. They bought us gifts mostly for the house, which was really cool. Everybody kid me and said I could get rid of all the post-its around the house... Well, cause I had all these post-its on the wall of the stuff I need on that particular spot... like picture frames, cabinet, etc... I even had an empty vase with a post-it that say "flowers". :-)) We even had gift cheques and cash too! Anyhoo, It was a really nice gesture of all these people from work to do this for me. Big thanks to all of them especially to my 2 good buddies, Caroline and Bretty Bear!
